As requested

Here is the Apple Cream Pie recipe I made and posted about awhile back. I know you are all dying to try it! Its delicious!

1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-3 tart apples - peeled, cored
   and sliced
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (15 ounce) package pastry
   for double-crust pie
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter, softened

Directions
1 In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup
sugar, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup cream, and 1/4 cup butter. Heat
until butter is melted, stirring occasionally. In a small
bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, 2 tablespoons milk, and
vanilla; stir into saucepan. Cook until thickened, stirring
constantly. Remove from heat, and set aside to cool slightly.
2 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). In a
medium bowl, combine the apples, flour, and cinnamon. Mix well.
3 Line a 9 inch pie pan with pie dough. Pour thickened
filling mixture into pastry-lined pie pan. Arrange apple
mixture evenly over filling. Top with second crust, seal and
flute the edges. Cut slits in top crust.
4 Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until crust is golden
brown and apples are tender. Cool for at least 30 minutes.
5 In small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, 1
tablespoon milk, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 tablespoon softened
butter. Blend until smooth; pour evenly over warm pie.
Refrigerate for AT LEAST 1 1/2 hours before serving (longer is better).

ENJOY!

Hoo are you?

These were fun to make. I got the idea from - where else- Hello Cupcake. Next time I want to try snowy owls with white oreos just to see what they will look like.

Some Christmas Spirit

Okay, so they are not the prettiest but they sure did taste good. I tried a few fun designs from my Hello, Cupcake book but I didn't have all the right "toppings" so I improvised by crushing up candy canes and then piping on a little bit of holly leaves.

Hello, Cupcake

Well, I couldn;t wait for christmas and hope that I got this book so I bought it the other day and I am super excited to try some of the designs in it. Now if only I had time to do that. Honestly, I feel like I only have snippets of time here and there and thats only when I am neglecting to do what I really should be doing. My mom always says "When you have the money you don't have the time. When you have the time you don't have the money. And when you don't have either youre in big trouble!" I am starting to think I am in the last catergory here!!
O'well, hopefully I will get more than a few minutes here in the next week and I will be able to try some and post them.

Last Christmas my mom gave me this cook book. Honestly, at first I thought "is she trying to tell me something?" like I needed to learn how to cook or something? And I quickly realized that yes, I do need to learn how to cook. I also realized I don't like to cook. It's okay, if I have the right ingredients on hand and it's recipe I know will turn out like somthing from my sister, mom, mom in law or the kraft canada magazine- which by the way is really nice. But even then it doesn't quite tickle my fancy the way it does for other people.
Baking however has always been something I liked. Mostly because I have a sweet tooth and love chocolate and vanilla and most baked goods. Recently I found Bakerella and a few other blogs that have inspired me to learn how to decorate cake and cupcakes with flair!
I am super excited to learn fondant and piping and all that goes into it. I plan on taking a cake decorating class from Michaels when they offer their next segment of classes. (if anyone wants to take them with me that would be great)
I can't wait to start baking and making beatiful and yummy treats- I'm sure my hubby won't be too dissapointed at my new found hobbie either!!!

Here's to cupcakes!!
